AL AK AR AZ CA CO CT DC DE FL GA HI IA ID IL IN KS KY LA MA MD ME MI MN MO MS MT NC ND NE NH NJ NM NV NY OH OK OR PA RI SC SD TN TX UT VA VT WA WI WV WY Canada  International

A blow or jolt to the head can cause a type of mild brain injury called a concussion. A concussion is a type of closed head injury that involves the brain and either makes you lose consciousness, or makes you giddy.

Some symptoms of a concussion are:

  • Persistent low-grade headaches
  • Trouble than usual remembering things following a head injury
  • Tiredness
  • Sad, anxious, or listless
  • Easily irritated for little or no reason

A concussion occurs when a person does not lose consciousness, but may seem dazed. The slightly more severe form occurs when a person does not lose consciousness but has a period of confusion and does not recall the event. The classic concussion, which is the most severe form, occurs when a person loses consciousness for a brief period of time and has no memory of the event.
